Skate a Mile High!

Group Shot - Washington ParkWeekly Skates

Wednesday Night Social/Street Skate

Location: Washington Park
Time: 6:30pm (skate leaves promptly at 7pm)

We meet by the parking lot at Smith Lake (the northern end). Skates will start in the park and then venture into surrounding areas, including the trail system and downtown and neighborhood streets. Typically, there is a social gathering afterward at a nearby restaurant or bar.

  • Average distance is 10 miles.
  • Helmets, lights, and protective gear are recommended.
  • Picture ID, insurance card, and $5 - $10 (in case we stop for refreshments) are a good idea.
  • Participation is at one's own risk.

Safety Rules

When we leave the park, we are skating on open roads or multi-use trails and must obey Colorado bicycle laws. Some rules to follow:

  • Obey all traffic regulations. (example: stop for stop lights/signs)
  • Stay on the right side of the road or trail. Pass on the left, and be sure to call out, "Passing on your left."
  • Always yield to pedestrians - they have the right of way.
  • Watch for hazards, and try to avoid water, oil, and sand.
  • If someone calls "car up" or "bike up", a car or cyclist is approaching ahead of us.
  • If someone calls "car back" or "bike back", a car or cyclist is approaching from behind, so stay in a single file on the right side of the road or trail.
  • Be a good-will ambassador for inline skating.
